Why regular monitoring matters
Hepatitis B is usually silent, so the tests do the watching for you.
Even when you feel completely well, hepatitis B is followed with periodic check-ups — usually blood tests every 6 to 12 months, and sometimes an ultrasound of the liver.
Monitoring lets your care team:
- Track how active the virus is and how your liver is doing
- Choose the right time to start treatment, if it's ever needed
- Look for early signs of liver problems, when they are most treatable
Keeping your appointments is one of the most important things you can do. Because the condition is usually silent, the regular tests are what keep you safe over the long term.
If you move, change providers, or fall out of the habit of check-ups, it's always worth reconnecting with a clinic. It's never too late to get back on track.
